Civitology, Civitality, and an Epiphany

Civitology, Civitality, and an Epiphany:

On June 3, 2024, the word Civitology arrived to me as a clear epiphany. I had written that while humanity perfected weapons year after year, we neglected a branch of study devoted to extending the life of nature, animals, and humanity for as long as possible. That missing discipline needed a name. It felt less like invention and more like discovery, something that was meant to exist and finally surfaced.

The Instagram Post that Started It

While the evil forces in humanity have designed weapons after weapons every new year since the dawn of the modern era, from machine guns, long-range missiles, and atomic and hydrogen bombs to various kinds of warfare aircraft and submarines, the righteous force of humanity and scholars around the world have failed or missed out on developing a very important branch of study. I would call this branch of study as Civitology. Civitology is made from two words: civilisation and vitality. Civitology would be study dealing with extending the life of nature, animals, and humanity in the universe for as long as possible. Had some scholars or intellectuals from the 19th or 20th century discussed, written about, or researched about Civitology extensively, our present world would be far more peaceful and would have achieved a very high degree of collective righteousness.

What Civitology Means

Civitology blends civilisation and vitality. It is the science and philosophy of civilisational longevity. It studies the frameworks, ethics, power structures, economies, and cultural habits that keep nature thriving, protect animal life, and allow humanity to endure peacefully, fairly, and for the longest possible time.

Why I Considered “Civitality”

Soon after naming Civitology, I explored Civitality to highlight the living energy inside a civilisation. If Civitology is the field, Civitality expresses the life force and health of a civilisation. In short:

  • Civitology: the discipline that develops principles, models, and methods for civilisational longevity.

  • Civitality: the condition that shows how alive, righteous, and sustainable a civilisation actually is.

Why I Am Sticking With Civitology

Civitology came first and came whole. It names the work of building laws, systems, and cultures that extend life for Earth’s ecosystems, animals, and people. Civitality is valuable language for measuring and describing outcomes, but Civitology is the banner under which the research, practice, and movement gather. It holds the rigor of a discipline and the ambition of a global project.

This began as a simple realization. If humanity can industrialize destruction, it can also institutionalize preservation. Civitology is that institution of mind, a commitment to design a civilisation that chooses longevity over vanity, integrity over power, and life over wars.
